Or Personal Injury Case

What benefits should you receive if you are injured at work?

No matter where you work, there is always a chance that you could become the victim of an accident. Whether it is a minor scrape, or a more serious incident, it is important to report it and seek medical attention. While an injury may at first appear minor, it is better to be safe than sorry. If you later discover that you were harmed more than you had at first thought, the fact that you reported it may increase your chance of success in a workers’ compensation claim.

If you have sustained a work-related injury, you may be entitled to a number of benefits to help you move on and recover from your injuries. These can include the following:

  • Treatment for your injuries. This means the company insurance policy should pay for any medical care, within reason, required to alleviate or cure your injuries.
  • Vocational rehabilitation. Otherwise, if you are unable to return to your former job or a similar position as a result of your injuries, you should be provided training for a new job, covered by the insurance provider.
  • As this post on work injuries explains, if you have developed a long-term disadvantage as the result of the accident, you might also be entitled to disability payments.
  • Any permanent disabilities brought about by the work accident could also entitle you to a financial settlement. The exact sum will depend on the nature and severity of your impairment.

If you are uncertain about what you should be entitled to, an attorney may be able to provide you with further advice. He or she can evaluate the circumstances of your injury and may be able to support you through the process of making your claim.
