Thousands of Denver parents send their children on a school bus every morning trusting that they will arrive at school safely. Most of the time this is the case, but occasionally a motor vehicle accident occurs that involves a bus. These situations can be extremely tragic for parents and the community.
A serious school bus accident occurred last week in Denver that sent 5 kids to the hospital. A police officer spotted a stolen SUV near West 38th Avenue and Navajo Street. The SUV drove away and ran a stop sign, then hit anotehr vehicle and then the school bus. 18 kids and the bus driver were injured, with 5 of the kids taken to Denver Health Medical Center. The driver of the stolen SUV was arrested.
A bus accident is a parent’s worst nightmare. No one expects their children will be injured while they are riding the bus to and from school. Despite all the safety features that school buses have installed, no one can prepare fully for a negligent driver. In these circumstances, families may want to speak with a legal professional who is skilled in personal injury. An attorney has the experience necessary to investigate the circumstances surrounding a crash and help determine who is responsible. They can hold the negligent driver responsible for the accident, and compensation may be available for medical expenses, pain and suffering, and other damages.
A bus accident or other motor vehicle accident can adversely affect a family for many years. These are unexpected events that can force a family to have unexpected medical expenses, funeral expenses and emotional trauma. It is important to hold a negligent driver accountable for their mistakes so that they don’t harm anyone else.
