Teen pedestrian dies in Colorado drunk driving accident

When drunk drivers are on the road, there is a major chance that there will be a drunk driving accident. No one who is sharing the road with a driver who is under the influence is safe. That includes other drivers, motorcyclists, bicyclists and pedestrians. Pedestrians are especially vulnerable because they are not accorded any protection from serious injuries and death in the event of a crash. For those who have been hurt because of a drunk driver or a family has lost a loved one is a drunk driving accident, it is critical to understand the importance of legal help to consider a lawsuit to be compensated.

A car-pedestrian accident led to the death of a 15-year-old and the arrest of the driver on drunk driving charges. The accident happened at around 11 p.m. The driver hit the teen and then fled. It is believed that the teen was crossing against the light in the crosswalk. A witness assisted law enforcement in finding the vehicle several blocks from the scene of the accident. When the driver, 25, was found, he was arrested for DUI, not notifying law enforcement of an accident, hit-and-run and fleeing the scene of a fatal accident hit-and-run. The investigation is continuing.

As other dangers on the road like texting and driving and distracted driving gain more attention, drunk driving remains a cause of many accidents with injuries and fatalities. When there are injuries after a drunk driving accident, the victim could find him or herself with spinal cord damage, brain trauma, broken bones, lost limbs and more. They could have an issue returning to normal, not be able to work or contribute to their family in other ways. When there is a fatality, the family left behind will need to pay for a funeral and deal with the emotional and personal loss from an unexpected and unnecessary crash. A legal filing will not bring the person back, but it can help with the difficult task of moving forward.

When there is a drunk driving accident, the investigation and evidence are the most important factors when considering a legal filing. In this crash, the driver hit the teen and fled. That the teen was said to be crossing the street against the light is largely irrelevant. The drunk driver hit him, killed him and fled. As the case moves forward, the family must remember their rights and speaking to a qualified drunk driving accident attorney to pursue a case.
