How to best take pictures of an auto accident

There is much to do in the immediate aftermath of a car crash. The first thing on your mind should be to seek medical attention. Even if you do not have serious injuries, such as one Colorado pedestrian struck by a vehicle on August 1st, you should still make sure none of your underlying tissues or muscles sustained damage.

If possible, take photographs of the scene of the accident. You will need to file a personal injury claim with your insurance agency, and having pictures and hard evidence can help expedite the process. However, a couple of blurry photos will not help. You need to know how to photograph a car crash scene effectively to help your claim.

Take photos of all angles and distances

You should take as many pictures as you can. You should photograph all vehicles separately from a variety of angles. If you can, then you should try to photograph the scene from a distance. You should contact the police to come out to the scene. While you wait for them to arrive, you can gather evidence.

Use the timestamp feature

If your smartphone does not automatically apply the timestamp feature, activate it. This tells you precisely what time and date you took the photograph. Knowing roughly the time of the crash could help your case.

Take pictures of anything else that could have led to the crash

Your cars should not be your sole focus. You also need to consider if other factors were at play. For example, you can photograph any potholes or obstructions in the road that could have contributed to the collision. You can also photograph skid marks to show that one or both drivers made an effort to avoid the crash. Even photographing the weather conditions can help.
