Colorado oil and gas workers at high risk of injury or death

Colorado has many residents who work for the oil and gas industry. Unfortunately, many of these workers are exposed to serious workplace hazards. Workers' compensation can help injured employees with the many expenses they can face after being injured on the job.

Since 2003, over 50 Colorado workers have died in the oil and gas industry. The oil and gas industry currently has a regulatory vacuum that is leading to many of the workplace accidents. Despite the high numbers of employees who work in this area, there is very little oversight. Most of the standards that OSHA uses to evaluate oil and gas companies in an OSHA investigation were reportedly written by a group connected to the petroleum industry. Nationwide, over 140 workers died in the industry in 2014 alone. With OSHA rarely imposing high fines on offending companies or having regulations that actually protect employees, it is expected the death toll will remain high.

Colorado oil and gas workers know how dangerous their job can be. There are a myriad of ways in which they can suffer an injury, many of them being serious because of unsafe working conditions. If a worker has been injured on the job in Colorado, they may want to speak with a legal professional who is skilled in workers' compensation. An experienced attorney can help manage a claim and help determine who is liable for the injuries. They understand what a person needs to do to get the full amount of workers' compensation that they deserve. They are an advocate for their injured client and family and can help them recover compensation for lost wages, medical expenses, future medical expenses, and disability.

When a Colorado resident is injured at work it can majorly affect their lives. Workers' Compensation can help a family get back on their feet and make sure their major expenses are covered.
