Texting while driving: a matter of personal responsibility

Texting while driving, as our readers know, is an activity that we all know is unsafe, but which too many of us engage in on occasion. According to recent research, the degree of impairment for those who text while driving is roughly equivalent to driving while intoxicated, depending on the degree of intoxication. Because of this, there are more and more efforts to address the problem by legislatures and more and more recommendations from safety advocates urging drivers to put their cell phones down.

Uninsured motorist coverage: a good idea in Colorado

Last week, the Missouri Hose approve a veto override of legislation that would restrict lawsuits by uninsured motorists. The bill, which is now set to go to the Senate, would prevent drivers lacking insurance from collecting noneconomic damages from at-fault insured drivers. That restriction would not apply, though, in cases where the insured driver is under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

Many of our readers have probably heard about the growing excitement regarding self-driving or automated cars. As of now, many companies are offering technologies that automate certain vehicle functions, but many manufacturers are also working toward the production of fully automated vehicles as well.

Deion Sanders seeking compensation for brain injury

Deion Sanders is reportedly catching flack for comments he made about brain-injured NFL players attempting to make money by filing workers’ compensation claims. Those comments, made back in February during the pregame show in New Orleans, came about two years after Sanders filed his own workers’ compensation claim in California, claiming to have sustained head trauma and other injuries during his time with the Dallas Cowboys.
